Associate- Strategy & Operations

Bengaluru, Karnataka, IN · Onsite · 6 days ago

About Us What we noticed is that businesses in the US, especially restaurants, lose thousands of dollars every year in unclaimed tax credits—not because they don’t qualify, but because the system is messy. So instead of just helping them track finances, we’re using AI + financial expertise to actually recover that money. It’s early-stage (0→1), high ownership, and very outcome-driven—your work directly ties to revenue being generated for customers. Our Vision & Mission Mission: Rebuild taxation workflows using AI—simpler, faster, and radically better. Vision: Become the most trusted AI-first tax platform for global businesses. Job Summary This is an Associate-Strategy & Operations role for someone who wants to build from zero , not optimize the obvious. You will work directly with leadership as a thinking partner, a cross-functional fixer, and someone who can own ambiguous work end-to-end. There is no defined scope. The context will keep evolving. What we need is someone who absorbs context fast, stress-tests assumptions, pushes back when they think something is off, and drives things forward without needing to be directed. Requirements Must have skills: Structured thinking -When given a messy problem, you frame it before you solve it. You ask what we know and what we need to find out — before prescribing anything. Ownership and accountability -You have owned something end-to-end at work — not contributed to it. When it went wrong, you owned it rather than explaining it away. Bias for action -You move before you are fully ready. You have started things before you had complete information or permission — and adjusted from there. Hustle and scrappiness - You have done hard things with limited resources. No budget, no team, no playbook — and you figured it out. Pushback and independent thinking - You will tell us when we’re wrong, back it with evidence, and hold your position. Comfort with ambiguity -Context will keep changing. No roadmap. You see ambiguity as a starting point, not a blocker. Motivation — why this - You are joining to build something from the ground up, not for the title or the startup credential. The first few months will be unglamorous. Only the right motivation survives that. Roles and Responsibilities: No two weeks will look the same. In broad terms: Thinking partner to leadership - Stress-test assumptions with data and logic. Push back when you see something wrong — backed by reasoning, not just instinct. The soundboard function only works if you genuinely disagree when you should. Cross-functional coordination- Drive execution across teams without authority. Own the follow-through that falls through gaps between functions. Define the Wedge - Drive calls with consultants and US restaurant owners. Identify the ICP and define the wedge. Diagnose before prescribing- When something is broken, understand what is happening before jumping to fixes. Own ambiguous work end-to-end- No roadmap. Align on what and why, and figure out the how. Figure out what needs doing and do it. Early operational hygiene- Not glamorous but needs to be fixed How success in 90 days looks like: Day 1–30: Absorbed context and has a point of view on top 2–3 operational gaps. Has started fixing at least one without being asked. Day 30–60: Operating with increasing independence. Is the thinking partner on at least one active problem. Is driving cross-functional coordination. Day 60–90: Running initiatives with minimal support. They have identified something and owning the fix. Benefits Our Way of Life — The Values C – Collaborate to Win We win together, not alone. We listen, challenge with care, and move as one team. Speed and success come from trust and cross-functional teamwork. E – Elevate the Bar "Good enough" isn’t good enough at Karbon. We push for world-class in everything we do. We learn fast, aim high, and turn feedback into fuel. O – Own It End-to-End We think like founders. We take full responsibility for outcomes—not just tasks. When things go wrong, we fix. No blame, no excuses—just impact. Perks & Benefits • Upskilling Policy Get access to courses, tools, and resources to keep learning and growing. •Team Outings Offsites and outings to celebrate milestones and build deeper bonds. •Flexible Work-from-Home While we follow a 5-day in-office setup, we know the value of occasional flexibility. Our WFH policy lets you go remote for up to 12 days every 6 months—because we get that a change of scene helps you do your best work. •Menstrual WFH Women employees can avail up to 3 WFH days per month—no questions asked. •Mobility Benefits Relocation support and travel allowance for smooth onboarding.
